About the Space

Our Midtown Center staff prides themselves on exceptional customer service, and you can expect nothing less when booking with us. We help assist you with the planning and execution of your event to ensure a seamless and memorable occasion.

Our venue, The Study Hall, includes tables and chairs, a prep kitchen and a complete audio visual system. If that isn’t enough, The Study Hall also features a mobile bar, indoor balcony and a wall of windows with historical charm to help make your event a memorable experience.

The hall is 6,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 300 people on the main floor.

A/V Services

$40.00/hour

An in-house sound system operated by Midtown staff is available for $40.00 an hour.

Client Supplies:

  • A detailed program/schedule of events
  • Any files provided must be Windows compatible and tested 1 day prior to event

Projection Requirements:

  • System is Windows based and has Microsoft programs. All video files must be Windows compatible.
  • On-stage computer plug-in via HDMI.

Uplighting

$20/light

Uplighting can be used at the base of walls and other architectural details to draw attention to the historic charm of our space while creating beautiful mood lighting.

Event Catering

The Midtown Center allows clients to choose between bringing in their own caterer or selecting from a list of our approved caterers. If a client chooses to use a caterer that is not listed on the approved catering list, then that caterer must provide documentation illustrating that they meet our minimum catering requirements.

Food Catering

You may supply a single dessert and any dry snacks such as trail mix or popcorn as an appetizer for your Midtown Center event, but all other appetizers and desserts must be provided by the event caterer.

Beverages Catering

The Midtown Center permits beer, wine and two liquors per event. No straight shots, double shots or “on the rocks” drinks are permitted. There are no pitchers allowed at guest tables and clients and their guests are not allowed to bring in any outside alcohol.

Catering Requirements & Regulations

Catering Fees

$250 service fee for food caterers
$150 for beverage

The food caterer is charged a $250.00 service fee and the beverage caterer is charged a $125.00 service fee. If the same caterer is used for both services, the charge is a flat $250.00. Please note: Some caterers pass this fee on to their clients.

Outside Catering Minimum Requirements

  • Signed Midtown Center catering service or bar service agreement for the current calendar year
  • A copy of the certificate of Liability Insurance with the Midtown Center listed as an additional insured. (Midtown Center, 96 West 15th Street, Suite 206 Holland, MI 49423)
  • A copy of current Fixed Food Service License allowing catering and/or a copy of current State Liquor License allowing offsite alcohol service

Nonprofits Events Alcohol Regulations

501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizations interested in bar service for their event must select one of the following options:

  • Host an open bar tended by a licensed beverage caterer, where no money or tickets are exchanged.
  • Secure a one-day non-profit liquor license through the state of Michigan to have the option of a cash bar.
  • Provide only donated alcohol served by a “TIPS” certified bartender.

Access & Parking

Pre Event Access to the Study Hall and Closing Time

Monday – Thursday Events: If the Study Hall is booked the day prior, it will be ready and available at 8:30 AM on the day of the event. If there is not an event in the Study Hall the day prior, the Study Hall will be available 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM for decorating.

Closing Time: For weekday events, we require the music to conclude and the bar to close at 10:00 PM. Guests and vendors must be out of the building by 11:00 PM. Weekend events must conclude by 11 PM with guests and vendors out of the building by midnight.

Parking Availability

Parking is limited. The Midtown Center is a bustling nonprofit hub Monday through Thursday, both during the day and evening. Some organizations have opted to hire a valet parking company. We do have some parking available onsite, including:

  • 53 spots in 16th Street side parking lot (elevator access)
  • Both sides of 15th Street (stair entrance only)
